back to the future

listening to: shadow of the day - linkin park

Given a chance to reverse the time, what time would that be? There's a wide diversity of opinion on this matter but I've always yearned for a second chance, after all everybody deserves one. To correct one's mistake or simply just wanting to repeat the same mistake over and over again - the decision is yet to be decided.

Speaking of which, I'd rather be transferred back to where I was 4 years back. High school was always the greatest time of my life at least, although college was great nevertheless. Still, high school comes in first. Remember the days where students will have to endure incessant disciplinary actions throughout the year? Not to forget, the tactics we planned to avoid being captured and also the risks taken.

All the tense apprehension and sheer exuberance will always remain. These evasions and endurance really shaped us to be tougher yet more responsible in this society. All the assignments we have back then were no match for the ones we have in the future. Everything was a lot more tense now, having to take a huge leap into adulthood where pressure builds up in everyday life.

As much as we like to evade problems like we do back those days, hiding in vicinity is never an option now. Eventually, we'll need to stand up and endeavor to solve the aforementioned problem. This is how we progress as time passes. There's nothing we can change about it but to anticipate and prepare for the war that awaits in the future!!

tension busters

listening to: shadow of the day - linkin park

On the brink of collapsing? Probably not if you know how to manage your stress. Sweating, stammering and amnesia are common behaviors that can be noticed with reference to the aforementioned statement. Can it be anymore worse? Not really if you deliberate on your current situation.

As a matter of fact, thinking may actually divert your attention to something else besides on your fear. Having said that, this can greatly affect the way you behave - no weird gestures or heavy breathing. Speaking of stressful, public speaking is one of the most common fear that most people would have to endure. It could be due to social anxiety and stress often builds up in this situation. Nervous and tense? The only way out is to exercise and I really do mean exercise.

An exercise doesn't have to be rigorous, some activities at around 20 minutes would suffice. As always, a 20 minute exercise will gain you sense of relief up to 3 hours while sedentary activities will only help for 40 minutes, thus exercise is still the overall champion. For starter, try shrugging your shoulders and hold that position for 3 seconds. Relax and repeat the shrugs continuously for 3 minutes. Should shoulder shrugs not work, try moving the head from side, lowering to the front and then to the other side. Repeat this motion for about 3 minutes as well; breathing deeply while initiating the moves.

Fist clenching might work too, provided if you squeeze them tight for 3 seconds, repeating for 3 minutes. Although this may sound like a great solution, avoiding fear is never the exit. Instead, muster and concentrate your energy on the fear with tenacity and eventually you'll overcome it!!

back in the groove

listening to: new divide - linkin park

Music or no music? Some people have found solace in music while others regard music as noise. As for how much music can contribute to our life, no one can really measure its exact contribution. It may have a negative effect on some people, but for me, music is just another form of entertainment.

However music is just not merely an entertainment. It is far beyond that category. Music can act as a form of motivation; keeping people steadfast in their aims and holding on to their goals with tenacity. All these revolves around the lyrics and of course the composer. Strangely enough, I'm often in an extremely euphoric state when I listen to music that soothes my ears.

It's undeniable that music is really invigorating but one man's meat can be another man's poison. Everything depends on different individuals and which type of music they find solace in. Whether it's rock or jazz, have you ever noticed that the gym's often blasted with music? Perhaps it aims to set a hip atmosphere but it might actually make your workout easier.

Music has been known to reduce beta-endorphin levels, a natural painkiller released by the brain in response to stress or pain. Probably this is the reasoning behind my euphoria and the lesser exertion of energy while exercising. So why not listen to more music if you can get back in the groove?
